Welcome to Friday
Hi everyone. After 2 weeks of holidays, I returned to work last Monday. The sound of the Alarm Clock, getting up early and a day at the office were all things I didn’t miss for the previous 2 weeks. Oh boy, I am looking forward to the weekend. On Friday, at 7 PM in Ireland and the UK or 2 PM Eastern, I very much look forward to sharing that Friday feeling with you all, because where ever you are in the world, I will offer you a warm Welcome to the Weekend.
On offer, to rid you from the stress and mayhem of the busy week, will be 2 fun filled hours of feel good music, blended with a large dose of friendly banter for you to enjoy and I’d love it if you could join me for it.
All your regular features will be here such as:
• Kick-Start. This opening track sets the pace for the weekend. This time, we’ll head back to 1986 and hear a track from a lady who I saw live in Dublin town, as part of a band around since the 1960s.
• Double-Take. At the bottom of the first hour, we play two tracks by the one artist along with a little bio on the artist in question. This weekend by request, we hear 2 tracks from Billy Joel. Who got married a few short weeks ago.
• The Irish Connection. Exactly 1 hour later I play two tracks by two different Irish artists. Today we will hear a track from a band who were very popular in the 1970s, along with a track from a gentleman who plays in an outdoor festival tonight, who has taken the world by storm since 2013. Not only are these 2 artists from Ireland, but also from the same town.
• The One That Got Away. This feature is dedicated to a track that is not often heard on the Radio. We’ll hear a track from an album released in January 1980, that gave the Pretenders 3 hit singles. The track we will hear, wasn’t released on Single, but is a hidden treasure.
